| A very prominent landmark in the area is the Crystal Bridge at Myraid Botanical Gardens, an urban park in the downtown area. The Crystal Bridge was designed by I.M. Pei for a tropical conservatory. There are many amphitheaters for live Twilight concerts and theater performances during the summer. A lake is also in the center of the park, which a big Japanese Koi replete has inhabited with fountains and waterfalls. The park has the Festival of the Arts every year in late April, a month long festival for the Downtown Salute is in July complete with free concerts, parades, and a three day 4th of July celebration and fireworks. |

Home to many natural habitats is the Oklahoma City Zoological Park, works progress administration for landscaping and architecture, host many popular summer concerts at its amphitheater.

| Several informative exhibits on photography, science, aviation and others are housed at the Kirkpatrick Center in the Omniplex Science Museum; the OMNIMAX Theater is also there. |

In Oklahoma City’s northern downtown part is the Oklahoma City National Memorial. The eastern gate has an inscription that says to honor the victims, rescuers, survivors and all who were changed forever on April 19, 1995. For a small fee you can visit the Memorial Museum in the former Journal Record building that was damaged by bombing and for no fee at all you can visit the outdoor Symbolic Memorial 24 hours a day. The National Memorial Institute for the prevention of terrorism is also home here; this is a non-profit, non-partisan think-tank.

The new home to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art is the Donald W. Reynolds Visual Arts Center. Featured at the museum is a variety of independent, foreign, and classical films shown each week, visiting exhibits and restaurants. The worlds largest collection of Chihuly glass is housed in the museum along with a Chilhuly tower that is three story’s high in the atrium.

| The capital recently finished its new dome, only a few state capitals don’t have a dome top. The original design included a dome, but due to the rationing of steel during World War I, it couldn’t be completed. In the late 1990s, state and city leaders prompted the effort that was completed in 2001. |

The Ford Center, located in downtown Oklahoma City was ranked one of the top ten music venues for live music in the world based on ticket sales by Pollstar, a concert industry group. The city’s professional sports teams have games at the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Across the street is the formerly named Myriad, now called the Cox Business Services Convention Center.

| The Civic Center Music Hall has been newly renovated and holds many performances such as opera, Broadway shows and ballet. Home to several top theater companies in the city is Stage Center for the Performing Arts, where Stage Center is housed. It was designed by John Johansen and is a modern architectural landmark. MOMA in New York City displays the original model. |

In Midtown there is the Jewel Box Theater and the Lyric Theater. Other theaters include Petree Recital Hall that seats 488, Kirkpatrick Auditorium that seats 1,200 and both Oklahoma City Universities. In April 2006 the Wanda L Bass School of Music and auditorium was opened at the university.

Oklahoma City is boasts two theme parks, White Water Bay and Six Flags. White Water Bay is located near Will Rogers World Airport and is a Six Flags Water Park. Six Flags Frontier City is themed Old West, it features several shops with a Western line and a recreational gunfight at the OK Corral. During the summer there is a national concert circuit at the amphitheater hosted by Frontier City.

| Walking trails can be found all over, many line Lake Overholser and Lake Hefner, downtown, the northwest part of the city, the Oklahoma River and the Canal. Some parts of Lake Hefner on the east shore have been redeveloped into upscale restaurants and offices, but most of the area is parks and trails around the lake. Some of these parks include a leashless dog park, Stripes and era Stars Park. The city’s most remote and largest lake is Lake Stanley Draper. More trail systems are being implemented into the city for bicycles. |
